PHALAPHALA FM hosted a memorial service for Rofhiwa "Rampsie" Rampfumedzi (42) as a tribute to his impactful life and legacy.

The service took place on Thursday, 11 January, at Studio 9C at the SABC Polokwane Campus in Limpopo.

Family, friends, and colleagues shared touching messages, vividly portraying Rofhiwa's passion for his craft and the infectious energy he brought to every broadcast.

Several dignitaries, including Limpopo's acting director of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Tommy Kgomo, and colleagues from radio stations such as Munghana Lonene FM and Thobela FM, attended the event.

Family spokesman Charles Rampfumedzi told Daily Sun that the late Rampsie was a man who always aimed to succeed in life.

"We will miss him as a person with a few friends, and he was selective. His death truly shocked us as a family, considering we were with him during the festive season," he said.

Rampsie, who had recently married in June 2023, leaves behind his wife, Hulisani, and two children – a girl, Rolivhuwa (12), and a boy, Roanda (2).

Friends and family fondly remembered Rofhiwa's commitment to the community and his unwavering dedication to promoting sports and music.

Colleagues spoke articulately about his professionalism, recounting instances where Rofhiwa's charismatic voice brought life to the airwaves.

During the service, Phalaphala FM programmes manager Sharon Ravele praised Rampsie as a dedicated worker who consistently exceeded expectations.

Ravele said she had worked closely with him since 2007.

"He was a sports presenter who went above and beyond, and he had a deep love for music, assisting as a music compiler. He was a light in the world," she said.
