His family issued a statement confirming his death.

It read: "Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother and grandson, Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), who South Africa had come to love and idolise under his stge name Costa Titch. It is with deep pain that we find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time."

They thanked the emergency responders and everyone who was present at his last hour.

"As a family we are faced with a difficult time as we try to make sense of what has befallen us and ask that we be afforded the time and the space to gather ourselves," read the statement.

They also thanked Costa's fans for showing his support.

"Please keep us in your prayers," they said.

People across Mzansi, including EFF president Julius Malema, took to social media to share their tributes after his death.

Some shared a video of the rapper from Mpumalanga collapsing in front of the audience when he was performing live during the event.

He was known for his hit single song titled Big Flexa that has more than 45 million views on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Costa Titch received a major co-sign from American musician Akon who praised him.
