RESIDENTS of Makgophong Village have been picketing outside the Magatle Magistrates Court on Thursday, 1 February.
This is where the father of a Skeem Saam actress William Manku will be appearing for a bail application.
William, who is a police captain and father of Amanda Manku, his police officer girlfriend Nonhlanhla Ngubo (42) and the alleged hitman David Khoza (40), face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, attempted murder, two counts of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
According to police spokesman Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the suspects were nabbed by members of the Limpopo murder and robbery, provincial tracking team, Benoni flying squad after a 70-year-old mum (Letty Maphothoma) and her 45-year-old daughter (Gladys Manku) were shot dead while fetching water at a local tap on 4 May 2021.
The residents said they don’t want the accused to be granted bail.

Evelyn Legwabe (63) said they wanted William behind bars.
“He can’t 'kill' his wife and grandmother and get away with it. We are not safe as a community, even his children are not safe,” alleged said.
Community leader Madimetja Matlala said that they came to court to support Amanda’s family.
“We are saying that we as a community don’t want 'murderers', and we are against him getting bail,” he said.
Matlala said they won’t allow him to be released on bail.
“We won’t be happy if we see him outside, and we feel that the South African justice system is failing us because he's a police officer and he knows the law,” he said.
