THE death of rapper and choreographer Tumi Tladi has left fans in shock.
Tumi (30), whose real name was Itumeleng Tladi, passed away in the hours of Sunday morning, 10 July.
It is not yet clear what caused his death.
His family issued a statement that read: “The family of South African hip-hop artist Itumeleng George Tladi today confirmed with profound sadness and loss, his ultimately passing.
“Known by his stage name Tumi Tladi, he was deeply loved by his family, friends and the entertainment industry as a whole. Son, brother and uncle Tumi Tladi (30) sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning (10 July) in Joburg.”
Tumi leaves behind his parents, five siblings, niece and nephews.
His family said they would confirm details of his funeral this week.

The Basadi hitmaker’s fans took to social media to pay tribute to him. Zano Mthembu said he still couldn’t believe the rapper was gone. He said he was shocked by the sad news.
“I will never forget the dance battles we had in primary school and of course, you kicked my ass in them.
“You were supremely talented. Rest in power, young king,” he said.
Rapper JR Bogopa wrote: “RIP to the young king, Tumi Tladi. Death be not proud.”
Nkanyiso Kubheka said: “I was talking to Tumi Tladi just yesterday. I am so hurt. I can’t believe this is happening.”
Ntando Gigaba wrote: “I clicked on the ‘Tumi Tladi’ hashtag because I thought: I’ve known Tumi for nearly a decade, but have never seen him trend.”
Ntando said this was sad as the rapper never lived to see himself trend for his music, which he poured his soul into.
