RADIO stars Hulisani Ravele and her bestie Motshidisi Mohono have vowed to support black-owned brands and businesses only.

They saved money and, at the end of each quarter, travelled around to buy from black-owned establishments.

In a tweet, she said: “Conscious Coins was birthed from our desire to be more conscious about our spending.

“Every month Motshidisi and I put away money in our savings accounts and intentionally go out to buy from our favourite black-owned brands and businesses.”

She said they’d support the brands they could in spaces they were able to.

The 947 presenter said the idea came about during lockdown after one long conversation.

“There’s a powerful awakening of self that’s unfolding all around us, an awakening to move with intention in what we do,” she said.

“During lockdown Motshidisi and I sat on a six-hour call, speaking about so many things. One of those things birthed #ConsciousCoins.”

The former child star recently revealed that one of her ambitions was to host this year’s Safta awards as it would be a celebration of her more than two decades in the industry.
