DJ and producer Rhee has made it through the hard times.
DJ and producer Rhee has made it through the hard times.

HE appeared on TV helping families resolve their issues on many occasions, but he was struggling too.

TV and radio presenter Rufus "Rhee" Moremi has hosted shows such as Beef and Dlala Ngeringas

The popular presenter told Daily Sun that he has been losing money while building his brand.

"I had to use my savings to build my brand. It wasn't easy. I wouldn’t pinpoint the exact amount I lost over the years, as I’ve been independent since I started. But when you are building a brand independently, it’s always demanding, not only with more hours. I'm putting but also financially as well.

"One of them was to be in a position of doing everything on my own. The business side of Rhee brand and craft side of the brand which I took as a lesson and learning paying school fees phase," he said.

Rhee said he always hoped things would go his way.

He said this made him work hard as he didn't want to disappoint those who looked up to him.

"But now I know things are going to be better with a different challenge given. I had just got a management team for our brand RHEE."

He said he now looks back with a smile.

"I'm grateful for all the lessons that came with the challenges. I wish our space could find more passionate people. Those that focus on their craft or talent, so it’s more well organised, management companies and a team like the ones I'm about to do the work with," he said.

Rhee said what kept him intact was that he never disconnected from his higher power and discipline.

"The fact that keeps me going is a lot of solid big brothers I have who always show a point of light. The likes of DJ Sbu and Black Coffee and others have been very instrumental through learning from them."

Rhee said he knows how great he is at what he does.

"Giving back to the community is part of who I am as I'm a community-driven brand. I have compassion for people because I know the feeling of not having and what humility to others can do to one's life," he said.

The presenter said he encouraged people to give back with pure intentions through #RheeBenefitshow and MR Foundation.

He just started his residency for March on Ukhozi FM, mixing on Fridays between 5.30pm and 6pm.

"I’m still doing a residency on 5FM on Fridays with legendary Roger Goode at 8:35pm. People can follow me on my socials for more updates on my schedules and gig guide," Rhee added.
