KZN-BASED poet Siyabonga Mpungose and his six-year-old famous daughter, Ibanathi Mpungose, are giving back to the community.
Siyabonga was touched by the deadly floods that hit KZN and left people homeless.
He is one of the celebrities that have taken an initiative to help flood victims rebuild their lives.
He said the floods that left hundreds of people dead were heartbreaking.
“What happened in KZN is devastating. I witnessed people losing their lives. I also witnessed people losing everything as their houses were swept away by the floods. This was painful to watch,” said Siyabonga.
He revealed that he started encouraging people to donate clothes to the victims.

“I believe that the hand that gives is blessed than the hand that accepts. So I’m encouraging people to donate clothes. These clothes will be given to the victims who were left with nothing because of these terrible floods. My daughter also wanted to be involved. She donated her clothes to children. As parents, we must teach our kids the spirit of ubuntu and the importance of helping people in need. I’m happy I’m raising a daughter who is always willing to help,” said Siyabonga.
Yesterday, Siyabonga and members from his organisation called Umdlalo Omuhle Movement, were expected to travel to different places in KZN to donate clothes and shoes.
He urged others to also lend a helping hand.
