Media personality Pearl Thusi does a full 360, she claims her cry for help was merely just a joke and that she is fine.

SOCIAL media was ablaze when media personality Pearl Thusi shared a video of herself crying out for help.

In the video, the Queen Sono star (35) put it out there that she was emotionally damaged and that she needed her friends to check up on her.

But recently, Pearl went on a full 360, claiming she was perfectly fine and that her cry for help was merely a joke.

"I didn't know that South Africans can't be played with. I'm fine, guys. I have a new beehive, and my dog is cuddling me here, I am busy preparing for a flight to catch, I am fine.

"I was just making a joke because of what happened this week and therefore called onto my friends to come hug me because I saw a lot," she said in a recent video.

She went on to say that she was good, and that people should not worry, further ending her video by saying "ani dlaliswa", which translates to people can't take a joke.

Fans went into a sudden state of shock when Pearl bluntly confessed that she wasn't feeling well in another video footage.

She shared how she had been going through a lot and needed her friends to check on her.

"To all my friends who know where I live, I'm ordering hugs and emotional support. There's a lot of emotional damage. So, all my friends with my address, this is an invitation, and make sure I am fine," she said at the time in the video.

Clinical psychologist Vusimusi Radebe said the first instinct for people who are going through a lot is to undercut it with humour.

"Normally, humour is what we use to avoid what we are going through at times. It's like a defence mechanism to shift that heaviness from what we're going through. But in this instance, it would be hard to comment because you need to really know the person and why they changed their mind," he said.

While noting the information shared about Pearl with him, Radebe said if her friends think there is some sense of truth in her joke, then they shouldn't brush it off.
