“ZODWA Wabantu must pay me back!”

These were the words of event organiser Ernest “Shomolekae” Kali, who claims he booked the entertainer for his Ke Moja Music Festival but she failed to turn up.

The 35-year-old from Wolmaransstad, North West, told Daily Sun: “I contacted her through Facebook after seeing her booking contact details.

“We booked her for our first event on 29 April 2020 in Upington, Northern Cape, and paid R35 000 but she never pitched,” said Shomolekae.

He said Zodwa did not even apologise.

He said that when he asked for a refund, she kept asking for his banking details.

“We ended up reaching an agreement that she’d perform at our third annual roadshow in Wolmaransstad on Saturday, 17 September.

“We paid her another R5 000 but she failed to pitch again,” he said.

Shomolekae said the last time he spoke to Zodwa was on Thursday, 22 September.

“She was still asking us to send our banking details for the refund,” he said. We don’t want to be involved with her any more because she is unprofessional,” he said.

Shomolekae said artists were killing event organisers’ brands.

“It’s time for musicians to stop doing this to us as fans end up not believing in us,” he said.

Shomolekae said event organisers must team up to expose artists that failed to honour agreements so everyone could stop booking them.

“I am an artist, actor, scriptwriter, director and even organiser. I have been in the entertainment industry since 2002,” he said.

When the SunTeam contacted Zodwa, she said that she didn’t know what Shomolekae wanted from her.

“Yes, I know Ernest.

I’ll call him myself,” she told Daily Sun.
