Platinum-selling amapiano duo MFR Souls have received wide recognition for their hit single, Love You Tonight with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Shasha.

The DJ and producer from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, whose real names are Tumelo “Maero” Nedondwe and Tumelo “Force Reloaded” Mabe, met in 2009 and formed MFR Souls in 2013.

They spoke to SunBuzz about doing international shows, the reception the yanos has been getting around the world and their new project, T-Squared EP.

Talking about international shows, the duo said they are no different from local ones.

“There is no difference in terms of the vibe. Yeah, they might not know what the song means but they come and ask later what is being said. They also want us to play them exclusive music,” said Force. Touching on the reception that the amapiano sound has been getting, Force said: “It is a good thing. If you release a song and it reaches other countries, it is an achievement. Now you’re no longer making music for the locals only, but for the whole world.”

The new project T-Squared EP, inspired by their name Tumelo, has received good reviews.

“The response is good. We thought people were going to choose one song but they are enjoying the whole project,” said Maero.

Force said they are planning to shoot three music videos for the EP, starting with the song Spharaphara.

The duo has plans of doing their own show and are waiting for confirmation to do an African tour.
