Not yet uhuru for our artists

Covid 19 is still with us and it doesn’t look like it’s going to go anywhere anytime soon.

As I’m writing this letter, I can’t just stop wondering how our artists are surviving and putting bread on the table.

I feel they have been the hardest hit by the pandemic and no one seems to care.

It’s a pity and a shame that artists in Mzansi are always taken for granted.

It was the music by the likes of Mzwakhe Mbuli, Letta Mbulu, Caiphus Semenya, Brenda Fassie, Juluka, Mercy Pakela, Miriam Makeba, Steve Kekana, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Mbongeni Ngema, Chicco Thwala, Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa among others that helped to end apartheid.

Their music was instrumental in gaining the freedom that we enjoy today.

Their struggle songs are still relevant even today.

For our artists, it’s still not yet uhuru, as government is ill-treating them.
