AFRO pop singer Nomfundo Moh is on cloud nine as her debut album Amagama is a confirmed smash hit.
The album was awarded seven plaques by Universal Music on Monday, 12 September.
The album went gold along with songs like Lilizela and Ngamkhetha while Soft Life went platinum and Phakade Lami achieved platinum status four times.
Speaking to Daily Sun, the 22-year-old from Ndwedwe, KZN, said she couldn’t even express her joy.
“I am super excited to receive these plaques because I put a lot of energy into the project, as did my whole team. South Africans really came through and supported my music. I am short of words to say thank you,” she said.
“I’ll be honest, I had high hopes because I know I make good music but this album blew up bigger than I expected. I feel like my faith was smaller than my success.”

Nomfundo thanked her fans for supporting her work. “They think I’m helping them by touching their souls with this music but in reality they are helping me as well. Them responding to my songwriting gives me more fire because I see they are listening to my messages,” she said. However, Nomfundo said she was not anxious about her next project.
“I am relaxed. I am not stressing about my next project. This is because I know I make good music. I never feel the pressure to make hits because I don’t believe in that,” she said.
Amagama also won in the Best Afro Pop Album category at the Samas last month.
