NIGERIAN superstar Burna Boy is getting ready to bless Mzansi once again.
He will perform at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Joburg on Saturday, 23 September, and the organiser behind the concert, Sedote Nwachuku, spoke to Daily Sun about it.
Sedote is the CEO of Ternary Media, the USA-based company that’s bringing Burna, whose real name is Damini Ogulu (32).
“Burna Boy is the biggest international superstar in the world. Working with someone of his calibre brings popularity, so we had to bring him here. FNB Stadium is the biggest arena in Africa. My parents are Nigerian, and they used to come to South Africa, and they used to marvel at the stadium. It made sense for us to do the concert there,” Sedote said.
He said they are looking at working with more African artists and taking them to the world.

“Currently, Africa is the continent that the United States of America and the United Kingdom are concentrating on. We feel right now it’s the best time to work with African artists. There are companies working with US and UK artists, and we want to do the opposite. We want to work with African musicians and manage them.
“We are looking at Khuli Chana, Nasty C, Davido, Wizkid. We’re looking at different artists throughout the continent, like South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique and many other countries. But right now, the focus is on Burna,” he said.
The businessman said the artists performing on the day will be announced soon.
“We will announce the acts that will be performing alongside Burna Boy in the coming days. He also has some surprises for his fans. So, people must be on the lookout.
“We know Africans love having fun. We’ll make sure we give them a fun line-up. We’re trying to bring a great event that’ll make African artists known and make sure that people enjoy and have a good time,” Sedote said.
This is the rapper’s first solo concert in Mzansi, but he has performed in the country before, including at DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival in 2022.
