NIGERIAN singer Qing Madi is honoured to be this month’s Spotify Equal Africa ambassador.
The See Finish hitmaker said she's happy to join many artists such as South African singers Tyla and Sio, as well as Nigerian musicians Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr and Asa.
Speaking about the achievement, the 16-year-old, whose real name is Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, said: “As a female in the male-dominated industry, I have to work a million times harder to be seen and heard. Being part of the Equal programme is an opportunity as a female to be visible globally and to grow my fanbase.”
The R&B singer said music is not just something she does, it’s her lifestyle.
“Music for me wasn’t just a talent or an ability that I had. Not something that I was able to do, it was a life I wanted to live. A feeling that I wanted to express. Music is my shallow thoughts spoken loudly. It is my comfortable and confident space as a teenager.

“I knew it was my destiny from the first time I climbed on stage and held the microphone at seven years old. There was something about being in charge of millions of people and being heard,” she said.
Qing said she wants her music to speak to everyone, especially youngsters.
“My why is easy. Growing up antisocial, it has been hard to justify my feelings and emotions, and music was a safe haven for me, and I believe so many people are still seeking theirs. As a 16-year-old teenager, I want to be who they listen to when they seek peace,” said Qing.
She took the Nigerian music industry by storm when she released her hit, See Finish, which went viral on social media in 2022.
Asked what advice she had for young musicians who also want to make a name for themselves in music, she said: “Deafen your ears to the crowd and begin. Nothing begins unless you just start.”
Qing is working on her debut EP.
