MZANSI Magic’s controversial Mnakwethu is returning for its second season on Wednesday 6 January at 8pm.

When it premiered last year, the show caused a storm. Many viewers slammed the show about husbands trying to take second wives, saying the husbands didn’t respect their first wives.

This season, called Mnakwethu Happily Ever After?, will show polygamist and host Musa Mseleku returning to the couples in the first season to see how they were coping.

Four of the husbands, Qondanisa, Ngiga, Dulas and Bheki, will be returning with their wives.

During the reunion show Ngiga, whose real name is Phumlani Ndlovu, claimed his wives got along well. However, his ex-girlfriend and potential second wife Nokukhanya “MaSithole” Sithole showed up unannounced.

She said Ngiga was lying and she did not get on at all with his first wife Xoli “MaKhumalo” Khumalo before leaving. Ngiga has since found a second wife named Nonjabulo Khanyile.

Ngiga, who is also a maskandi singer, told Daily Sun he decided to return for a second season to show viewers his life was going well with two wives. He said his wives didn’t get along but he had hope for the future.

“They are fighting over me but at the end of the day, I had to take MaKhanyile as my second wife. She was already in the picture and MaKhumalo knew about her, so I had to marry her,” said Ngiga.

He said viewers would get to see how his family lives in this season.

“They will get to witness me with my first wife and how I live with the second wife,” said Ngiga. “However, I made terms and conditions with the show this time. I asked not to get sabotaged like I was with the show’s reunion.”

He urged viewers not to get too attached to the show as that was what made them upset. “They should understand that these are our lives and they don’t know how we live and do things,” he said.
