MAKE-UP artist Natasha Mooko has magic hands.

This is because every Miss South Africa hopeful she has applied make-up on has won the title.

In 2019, she was responsible for Zozibini Tunzi’s make-up, in 2020, she was responsible for Shudufhadzo Musida’s, and last year, she was responsible for Lalela Mswane’s and this year, she was responsible for Ndavi Nokeri’s make-up, who was recently crowned Miss South Africa.

Natasha (23) from Diepkloof in Soweto has been working as a freelance make-up artist for the Miss South Africa organisation for four years.

Asked if she believes she’s got magic hands, she said: “I am a big believer that when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you do great. True beauty comes from within. Mine is to merely enhance the ladies’ naturally existing beauty.

“While I love and I’m really great at what I do, I can only do so much. These ladies holistically prepare for the competition, I can’t take all the credit.”

Natasha has also worked on big stars such as Nomzamo Mbatha, Thando Thabethe, Mihlali Ndamase, Ayanda Thabethe, and Pamela Mtanga.

She said she’s been a make-up artist for five years.

“I started off in 2017. I’d play around with make-up until a lady asked to book me for her wedding. After that gig, I never looked back.

“I landed my first gig at Media24 under Move! magazine as their make-up artist for cover shoots. I’ve been growing more and more every year. I love what I do. It makes me so happy,” said Natasha.

Natasha said she has enjoyed working with Miss South Africa finalists.

“As a peer, I think I can easily relate and understand them. I also learn so much from them. The most important thing for me is to also allow them to give input on how they envision their look and work on showcasing their natural features,” she said.

Asked if she thinks she’ll also work with Ndavi’s successor, she said she hopes so.

“I believe that judging at Miss South Africa is fair and that the most deserving woman will get crowned next year. It will be yet another blessing should I be lucky enough to do her make-up,” said Natasha.
