Mzansi stars score nominations for Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

SOUTH African stars are taking over the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this year.

They are dominating on the African categories of the awards.

The nominees for this year’s awards were announced on Tuesday, 31 January, and stars such as Trevor Noah, Msaki, DJ Arch Junior, and Scorpion Kings are nominated.

Trevor, Scorpion Kings, Msaki and soccer team, Banyana Banyana, are up for Favourite African Star.

Alakhe Mdoda, Lethukuthula Bhengu, Rethabile Mokgatla, Siba Bogopa and DJ Arch JNR have been nominated for Favourite African Kidfluencers, alongside popular Nigerian twins, Olianna and Olivia.

The Face of Nickelodeon Africa, Lerai Rakoditsoe, will be heading out to Los Angeles, USA to host the official 2023 KCA Nickelodeon Africa Special.

Speaking about the awards, Dillon Khan, vice president of Paramount Africa for Comedy Central Africa, Nickelodeon & Creative Services, said he’s glad to see African talent being recognised abroad.

“The evolution of the African creative industry is being felt across all spheres of global entertainment. These nominations resonate with all of Africa. We’re glad to see so much African talent being recognised for all the hard work they put into the global entertainment industry. This is just the start,” he said.

Georginah Machiridza, the executive head content strategy at MultiChoice, said they’re excited to see Lerai going abroad and growing her career.
