MUVHANGO actresses, Maumela Mahuwa, Constance Sibiya and Candy Magidimisa, will celebrate Women’s Day by paying homage to their characters.
Maumela plays Susan Mukwevho, Constance plays Hangwani, while and Candy plays Sharon on the soapie.
They all spoke about how their characters have inspired and motivated them in real life.
Maumela’s character went from a housewife to a nurse and she’s now mayor.
She said she is intrigued by Susan.
“Susan is a helpful reminder that a woman doesn’t always have to have her life in complete order. I admire strong-willed women like Susan, who do not allow their circumstances to determine their future. Despite all the hurdles thrown her way in her marriage to a polygamous chief, she forged her way to be a professional nurse and gained confidence, stature and courage,” she said.

“We witnessed her grow from being a meek housewife who allowed her husband to bring different women into their lives to becoming a matriarch of the Mukwevho family who stood for herself. Today she holds the mayoral position of Thathe which was reserved for men. I am also intrigued by her ability to use intelligence to solve problems,” said Maumela.
Constance said Hangwani’s multiple strengths are what she loves about the character.
“Vho-Hangwani is strong-willed and focused. I like the fact that she is blowing the lid off everything that people say about women married to royalty. She promotes ideals of female independence,” said Constance.
“Although she is married to Gizara, who is a member of the royal council, she is a strong, powerful woman who heads up her own business and never relies on a man to get the job done. I also love her strong maternal instincts,” said Constance.
She said Vho-Hangwani’s dignity and motherly nature are inspirational.
Candy said she is intrigued by Sharon’s complex emotions.
“She makes mistakes but always tries to learn from them. She isn’t immune to influence, but she has her thoughts and feelings about her world and the things that happen in it. While sometimes impulsive and susceptible to the manipulations of others, she is her own person,” she said.
She said Sharon was a small character, a mere waiter, but she has now transformed into the manager of Waterside and has intentions to own it.
