THE late Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala’s memorial service was a jolly affair filled with music and performances.
The friends and family of the TKZee member gathered at St Stithians College in Sandton on Wednesday, 24 August to remember him.
The memorial service was hosted by his friend and fellow TKZee member Kabelo Mabalane, and stars like MaCasket and Zwai Bala performed.
Magesh died on Monday, 15 August due to an epileptic seizure and was buried on Friday, 19 August at Westpark Cemetery.
People who spoke about the musician described him as a musical genius.
Some celebs also sent in tributes for the star.
Rapper Gigi Lamayne said Magesh was a profound person.

“Magesh, you were humble. You always knew what you stood for. Thank you for being such a profound human being. You’re irreplaceable, your legacy lives on, you helped us understand how proud we should be to be South Africans. Condolences to the family, friends and the amazing people who have been touched by your spirit.
Zola 7 said he met Magesh during one of his performances and they held each other’s hands through many gigs.
“Looking back, a lot of guys have passed on. The most important thing is to thank the Tshabalala family and God for borrowing us their son. Magesh, thanks for the great lyrics and memories. Go well, we’ll see each other again,” he said.
Grammy-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee said Magesh paved the way for many musicians.
This is a great loss, he was one of the guys that showed us that it was possible to be a black superstar in South Africa at a time where it didn’t seem feasible. He was one of the forward thinking lyricists. it’s a great loss for the industry and I’m sure it’s an even greater loss for his family.
“I’m just paying respect to one of the greatest artists we’ve had in the country. We know his work and how he cultivated guys like us to think bigger and know that it’s possible to do this thing on a higher level,” he said.
