TEBOGO "Pepsin" Montse believes God gave him two gifts and he knows exactly how to use them.
When the multi-award-winning reggae star and sangoma popularly known as Pepsin is not recording his hit songs, he is in his ndumba healing people.
The 43-year-old from Kimberley but now based in Sandton, Joburg, told Daily Sun he hasn’t stopped being a sangoma.
“Both gifts are a part of me, and you can’t run away or separate yourself from a gift. Music and healing are a calling, and they are not something that I just decided to get up and do,” he said.
He said the two are incorporated well into his life.
“I was born with music and healing abilities, and it was easy to link the two together. I didn’t plan it; it just happened, and everything just went along. I don’t have to plan how my day will happen naturally,” he said.

The healer said he released a new love song called Owami.
“It’s mostly about waiting for someone you loved in high school and then meeting at a later stage in life and then deciding to get married,” he said.
Pepsin said he is a versatile artist.
“I've done R&B, Jazz, traditional music, reggae, kwaito, and amapiano. I'm not just a reggae artist, and you can’t box me. I just do whatever comes.
“It’s a good feeling and something I can’t explain. It’s something I live for, a part of me that I can’t live without,” he said.
Pepsin said he has faced many challenges in the music industry.
“We don’t like saying it, but there's a lot of gatekeeping in the music industry. It used to be a place for super talented people, but right now it's wide open and some people aren’t supposed to be in the industry,” he said.
