HIP-HOP’s most anticipated show, MTV Base Hottest MCs, is back and the best of the best are about to be ranked in the top 10.

The annual show will be broadcast on 2 and 3 December on MTV Base (DStv channel 322).

This year’s list will be put together by Tshego Koke, who will be hosting, together with some notable South African hip hop heads including DJ Zan D, Shala the Unicorn, Kai, Buhle, Siya, and French Fry.

Tshego said he’s excited to host this year’s two-part show.

“The Hottest MCs list is one of the most talked about moments in South African hip hop culture and I’m excited to add my voice to the conversation this year. The industry has really evolved in the last year and this year’s list will reflect that,” he said.

Announcing the show, MTV said the panel will use their knowledge to pick the best rappers.

“The list has gained notoriety throughout the years, sparking passionate debate among hip hop enthusiasts regarding who should take the top spot. A hand-picked panel discussion featuring some of South Africa’s best hip-hop heads is part of the two-part event,” said MTV Base.

“Using their enormous knowledge and experience in the game, they channel their expertise and go head-to-head to pick the ultimate hottest MC for 2021. This year’s Hottest MCs will be based on musicians who have managed to stay in the game, delivering the hottest songs and pushed the culture forward,” they said.

The rappers on last year’s list were Focalistic, Yanga Chief, Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, Big Zulu, YoungstaCPT, Busiswa, Costa Titch, Riky Rick, K.O, respectively.

Catch MTV Base Hottest MCs on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on 2 and 3 December at 5.30pm.
