SAMA nominee Mthandazo Gatya has joined forces with Canadian alt-pop duo Neon Dreams for a new single.

The song, Say It Out Loud, was released two weeks ago and already made it to the Amazon and Spotify charts in Toronto, Canada.

The Senzeni hit-maker spoke to SunBuzz about the collaboration and how it came about.

“When Neon Dreams started popping in Mzansi, it was around the same time I started popping too.

“When Senzeni was big in the country and they were always behind me. When I was number one on charts, they would be number two and when I’d be number two, they would be number three,” he said.

“So they finally wanted to meet this artist that had been giving them a hard time and they reached out to me,.”

Mthandazo said Neon Dreams suggested that they work on a song together.

“They said they listened to Senzeni, they fell in love with it, and they understood why it was always on top.”

The singer said working on the song was a fun experience.

“It was so easy for me to connect to their song. Just like me, they make their music with so much soul and feeling. I just fell in love with the song before I could even get the context of it all. It was quick for me. I didn’t write, I just sang.”

Mthandazo said his newfound success in the music industry came at the right time and he’s been ready for it.

“I’ve been prepared for this. It’s been a long time coming, it didn’t just happen overnight. I guess it was all about getting the right team to expose my talent.

“Everything that is happening now, it came when I was ready and prepared emotionally, spiritually and psychologically.”

He’s now working on his debut album titled New Age Healer.

New Age Healer, it’s one of those projects that will take care of hearts and souls, motivate, teach and keep people dancing. I’ve had to balance everything in one project. It’ll drop in October,” said Mthandazo.
