THE Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition is celebrating a huge milestone in 2023.
The popular music conference is turning 20 years old, and they are bringing together the young and old to celebrate.
The chairman, Stanley Khoza spoke to Daily Sun about the event, which is taking place from Wednesday, 25 October to Friday, 28 October.
“It wasn’t easy, but the fact that we're able to reach 20 years means we’ve been able to sustain it and create a platform that the country cannot go a year without. It's the only platform that teaches South African artists about the business side of music and is able to navigate contractual dynamics.
“Over and above, it creates a cultural celebration of our South African sounds. For us as Moshito, more than just the conference, we're looking at it as a celebration of the past 19 years that we’ve spent developing artists and exporting them outside of the country and making sure there’s a platform for them to be educated,” he said.

This year, they're working with Lwah Ndlunkulu and Mdu Masilela as their ambassadors.
“The most important thing that we're proud to say is that we are celebrating 20 years of being an international music conference. To celebrate that, we've identified two of the best talent our country has, which is Mdu Masilela. He’s our legendary ambassador paired with the young and dynamic Lwah Ndunkulu.
“As a conference that recognises our past and present, we always look at strategic ways to bring artists of this calibre that made our music industry what it is today,” said Khoza.
He said they'll be hosting people from outside of Mzansi.
“The official opening concert is on Wednesday, 25 October at the SABC M1 Studios, the Afro World Night concert is on Thursday, 26 October and the grand finale with the Free Street Festival is on Friday, 27 October in Soweto.
"This year's conference will feature delegates from a wide array of international and local music markets including Botswana, Cameroon, France, Jamaica, Mauritius, Mozambique, Reunion Island, Nigeria, Swaziland, Seychelles, the UK, and many more. The conference provides a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration on a global scale,” he said.
