MISS South Africa 2022 Shudufhadzo Musida is getting ready to publish her second children's book titled I am Shudu: Finding My Voice. Knowing My Strength and she’s excited about it.
The 27-year-old told Daily Sun the book, which will be out in stores on Wednesday, 8 November, is directed at teaching kids.
“Children are often excluded when issues about them are spoken about. And I think kids need to be around the table when we speak about issues that concern them. So, this is my way of speaking to them because I wish someone had those conversations with me when I was young,” she said.
Shudu said she hopes the book will teach kids to find their voices.
“The book is about bravery, bullying, forgiveness, family, identity, which is a big one, and the power of finding your voice and how it changes the narrative. Because I believe once you find your voice, you realise the magic in it. It’s about being equipped with the right knowledge and also having the right support,” she said.

Her first book, Shudu Finds Her Magic, which was published in 2021, also shed light on bullying. She said this is a recurring theme in the books because she went through it as well.
“Bullying is personal for me. I was bullied for seven years from when I was nine years old to 16 years old and it was a hard time for me because I didn’t have anyone to speak to about it. And that’s because it’s so normalised in our society. And so many children are going through bullying, and they have no one to talk to. Nowadays, they even die by suicide because of bullying,” she said.
Shudu has also just released her new swimwear line.
“I’d appreciate it if people were to go and buy that,” she said.
