SOUTH Africans rallied behind Miss South Africa Ndavi Nokeri as she represented the country at the Miss Universe pageant a few hours ago.
People woke up in the morning to watch her and made her trend on social media. The pageant was broadcast on 1Magic at 3am.
The 23-year-old beauty queen made it to the top 16 and got eliminated.
R’Bonney Gabriel from the USA won Miss Universe, Miss Venezuela Amanda Dudamel was the first runner-up and Miss Dominican Republic Andreina Martinez was the second runner-up.

Even though she didn’t win, South Africans were still proud of her. She was trending number one on social media.
Twitter user Aggrey92 said he was shocked Ndavi was eliminated.
“I am still in shock! But you gave your best, maybe #MissWorld is your title because @Ndavi_Nokeri you are a Universal Queen. #MissUniverse2022 missed out on your heart. We, as South Africa, see you and we are PROUD. You did AMAZING Ndavi!” she wrote.
ZolekaDlamini77 complimented Ndavi’s dress: “Her dress is absolutely gorgeous, unique colours and the patterns representing South Africa geometric patterns chefs kiss. #MissSouthAfrica.”
Koinonia Baloyi said she is proud of Ndavi for flying the SA flag high.
“We are incredibly proud of you @Ndavi_Nokeri for flying our flag high,” she wrote.
Then Neo Mokotedi said she was disappointed Ndavi didn’t make it to the top 5.
“The same way people are sad Miss Phillipines didn’t make it to top 16 is how I’m feeling about Miss South Africa not making it in to top 5 #MissUniverse2022,” she wrote.

Ndavi also released a statement congratulating the winners, adding that she gave it her all.
“I would like to congratulate R’Bonney who is a worthy winner and is going to be a wonderful Miss Universe. I want to thank everyone for their wonderful support and I am proud of what I have accomplished. I know that I gave it my all and the Miss Universe experience will be something I will never forget. I am looking forward to returning to South Africa to complete my reign and my advocacy campaign Ed-Unite,” said Ndavi.
She said she hoped to have gone further but was happy to have reached the top 16.
“Obviously I would have like to go further but I am delighted to have made it into the top 16 of the competition. The whole experience has been beyond my wildest expectations and it has been a true journey of the sisterhood,” she continued.
