WINNERS of the Metro FM Music Awards (MMA24) will walk away with R50 000 cash, while the Song of the Year-winner wins R100 000.
This was announced at the MMA24 nominee event in Bryanston on Wednesday, 27 March.
Scores of celebrities packed the venue to see who made it to the list.
METRO FM Business Manager Kina Nhlengethwa said the awards serve as a celebration of the vibrant tapestry of South African music, where melodies become bridges that connect hearts and souls.
"It's a platform where artists, both established and emerging, showcase their passion and talent, igniting a symphony of inspiration and creativity.
"Beyond the glitz and glamour, these awards embody the relentless pursuit of excellence and the unwavering dedication to the craft," she said.
"We were delighted with the quality of entries and the music. Artists who have been entered are truly of a world-class standard that competes with the rest of the musical world."
Grammy award-winner Tyla leads with six nominations for her award-winning song, Water.
Amapiano is at the forefront, with both Kabza the Small and Tyler ICU receiving five nominations each.
Kabza received nominations for Best Produced Album, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, Best Amapiano – all for the song Imithandazo, featuring Mthunzi.
He was also nominated for Best Male Artist.
Inkabi Zezwe, Sjava and Big Zulu bagged four impressive nominations, two for Ukhamba – Best Produced Album and Best African Pop. They were also nominated for Best Collaboration for the song, Umbayi Mbayi.
Some of the categories included Challenge of the Year, the TiKTok trends that dominated in 2023.

Lwandile Mtshali, professionally known as Lwah Ndlunkulu, was nominated for Best Female, Artist of the Year and Best African Pop.
She said she was excited.
“I'm super-excited, especially because they said we'll get money, and I love money. I hope people vote for me, which will make me happy a lot,” Lwah said.
She said she is looking forward to winning all the awards.
Babili Amos Shili, popularly known as Aymos, who was also nominated for Best Music Video and Best Male, said he is proud because he directed the video himself.
“It makes me so proud to be nominated by such a big platform for the work I did with my own hands,” Aymos said.
