HARDLY a week into the new year and tragedy has struck the music industry again.
This as another legendary singer has passed away.
Singer and songwriter Scelo Ndlela, who was a member of Soul Brothers passed away on Thursday, 4 January. The Joburg-based musician died at the age of 65.
According to his first born son Sabelo Ndlela, he died at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, formerly known as Joburg Gen hospital, in the morning.
He told Daily Sun that he hadn't been feeling well since mid-December 2023. Sabelo said his dad was in and out of hospital.

"He was doing good around 20 December when he was at the hospital. It's just that he was going in and out more often.
"We're hurt as a family and wish he could have lived longer. It's hard for us, and that's all I can say," he said.
Sabelo said his death has touched them and they're in pain. He said he knows how his fans feel right now as they loved him so much.
"He was a great person to us as a family and to everyone around him. He lived his life full of joy and love. We as the family would like to say to his fans that they must celebrate his life. We will update everyone with what they need to know about him this week," he said.
Sabelo said during this time of mourning they'll be busy with preparations, and they'll elect a family spokesperson to inform media houses about all arrangements in due time.
The Soul Brothers group was formed by Moses Ngwenya and David Masondo in the 80s.
They have been in the music business for over 40 years. They've recorded over 38 timeless albums since their inception in 1974. Soul Brothers still remains the oldest and most active African traditional music group in South Africa.
They have made hits such as Mama Ka Sibongile, Bazobuya, and Xolisa Umoya.
