MASKANDI musician Mbuzeni Mkhize is off the market.
And the 36-year-old from Nhlazuka, KZN south coast encouraged other musicians to get married to avoid gallivanting.
He paid lobola, had a traditional exchange of gifts (umembeso) as well as traditional wedding with his lover, Noxolo Chiliza at Highflats in KZN on Saturday, 21 October.
Mbuzeni, who normally performs overseas, told Daily Sun: “Traditionally, you can’t lead people if you are not married, and I challenge all those who claim they are maskandi music kings to get married.
“How can they lead us if they're not married? How can they lead a married man like me if they aren't married?”

Mbuzeni said the reason he decided to pay lobola, have the umembeso and traditional wedding on the same day is because he wanted to show his wife and her family that he's serious about her.
“I also wanted to respect her home because I didn’t want to come in separately as if I’m not sure about what I’m doing. I love her and she's the one I was looking for because she understands me and loves me the way I want to be loved,” he said.
Mbuzeni, who played lead guitar on Mthandeni Manqele's hit song, Paris, said that he dated Noxolo for two years and realised that she is the one.
The Amawololo hitmaker said it's important for musicians to get married when they have found someone who really loves them.
“The big challenge for us as musicians is that as we are famous, it's difficult to see who really loves you and many of us end up having multiple partners and that may attract diiseases.
“So, if you get someone who really loves you, just get married because that will save you from gallivanting and diseases,” he said.
