DIEPCITY director Mandla Ngcongwane has been a victim of cybersecurity attack.
The Joburg-based actor, who is better known as Mandla N, told Daily Sun that he was shocked to discover that there is someone on Instagram pretending to be him and asking people for money.
The producer said he had received messages from people telling him that someone was using his picture and names on Instagram to ask for money.
"I am very disappointed that there are people who take advantage of others to make money. It shows that we are not safe in South Africa,” he said.
Mandla N said it's not fair that some people are trying to make money out other people's names with fake accounts.

"I have already reported the account to Instagram. They know that someone is using my fake account," he said.
"I wish I had picked it up earlier, because they had already asked a few people. Luckily, those people were able to notice that it was not me.”
The former SABC1 City Ses’la actor and producer said luckily no one in his circle was approached by these scammers.

Mandla said people needed to be taught about this because it was getting out of hand.
"We need to put out a rule where people must not ask for money on social media,” he said.
He said people needed to know that as professional, they would not ask for money on social media platforms.
"I know when someone is desperate they go all out. We must manage these social media securities fast," he said.
