REALITY TV star and businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has been praised after keeping her promise to help the victims of the KZN floods who lost their homes in April.

She gave away three houses on Monday, 20 June, in Wyebank, Durban and people on social media are thanking her for keeping her promise.

She has promised to give away 20 houses.

MaMkhize shared a video of the houses being built on her Instagram page and thanked everyone who was part of the project.

“When we come together we can always make a difference. Thank you again to all the parties involved. This would not have been a success without you all,” she wrote.

In the video, she said she wants to finish up the three houses and move on to the next ones.

“Remember I had said that because people were affected by floods in KZN, I need to do something and see how I can assist? So, today we are here to build houses. I want to hand over these three houses then I move on to the next houses,” she said.

Twitter user Njivana said he respects MaMkhize.

“MaMkhize didn’t send thoughts and prayers to the flood victims, she sent real help. She took her own money and built houses for some. She didn’t have to but she did, I have nothing but love and respect for her,” he wrote.

Enkosi Dlamini said he doesn’t understand why some people are criticising the houses that were built.

“I find it so strange with people criticising the initiative done by Shauwn of building a few houses. Even your ANC has done nothing but you’re complaining about how those houses were built. Stop tweeting from a position of privilege and give credit where it’s due,” he wrote.

Another user K.I.N.G commented: “MaMkhize gave something to those who had nothing.”
