SOCIAL MEDIA has not responded kindly to the video of Makhadzi pushing a dancer off the stage.
The superstar has responded, claiming she didn’t mean to cause any harm.
"I'm not the bad person social media is portraying me to be!" she said.
The video has left many of her fans with a sour taste in their mouths and questioning why she would do that.
The award-winning Limpopo-born musician said she didn’t expect the dancer to fall from the stage, as she was focusing on the audience during her performance.
The video, filmed on Saturday, 6 March at Moonlight tavern in Madidi Village, North West, has been widely circulated.
The performer can be seen pushing one of her dancers, who was splashing water in the air, off the stage before the dancer fell to the ground.
As the video gained momentum Makhadzi received a lot of backlash.
Many people said she was mean.
In a video, she said she’s not the bad person people are making her out to be.
“Why the dancer fell to the ground as seen in the video is that I was trying to push her to come to the front of the stage. Unfortunately, my mind was focused on the crowd and I didn’t notice that if I pushed her towards where I wanted her to be she would fall off the stage.
“The reason I was trying to push her was to tell her that she shouldn’t pour water on the stage. We still had more songs to perform and if she poured water the stage would be slippery.”
She said it would be bad to travel all the way there and be unable to perform because of a slippery stage. “I am not a bad person because of that video.”
Daily Sun contacted Makhadzi’s publicity manager from Open Mic Production Nandi Basela, who said she won’t be addressing the matter further and won’t be taking any interviews unless they are music-related.
