M-NET’S reality show Love Island SA ended after six weeks on Sunday, 11 April and the winners of the show were crowned.
The show, that followed singles who stayed in a villa to find love in Cape Town, saw Libho and Thimna winning and taking the R1 million cash prize.
They were the first to get coupled up in the villa and they had the most support on social media.
On Sunday during the finale, the host, Leandie du Randt gave both Thimna and Libho two envelopes. One had R0 and the other had R1 million. Libho got the envelope with the money and said he’d share it with his girlfriend, Thimna.
While Love Island ended on a happy note for the couple and for Mzansi, it started on a rocky road. When it launched at the beginning of last month, viewers were angry that there were a lot of white contestants.

Thimna was among the first contestants and was one of the only two black people on the show. People vowed to support her until the end and made sure she would win.
One of the sponsors of the show, LottoStar, pulled their sponsorship after people complained about the show.
However, as the weeks went by, diverse people were added as bombshells in the villa, leading to the final.
The final four couples, Libho and Thimna, Millie and Asad, Tania and Ross and Mischka and Xavier, left the villa ready to pursue their relationships in the outside world.
Viewers and fans of Limna (Libho and Thimna) took to social media to celebrate their win and said they deserved it. Both Thimna and Libho also thanked people for their support on Twitter.
Thimna wrote: “Thank you so much to every single one of you for all the support and love. I appreciated you immensely.”
“Thank you for voting for Thimna & Libho guys,” Libho wrote.
