GERMAN-BORN DJ, producer and remixer Lars Behrenroth’s glittering career has been epitomised by longevity and authenticity.

On this week’s episode of Famous Friday, we celebrate the 20-year milestone of Deeper Shades of House, a global music show hosted by Lars.

“I’ve been doing radio since 1994 and have been a fan of radio from a young age. After a national radio station approached me to host a deep house show, my then girlfriend, who is now my wife, came up with the show called Deeper Shades of House because I’ve loved the deeper side of music,” he said.

Lars said the past 20 years have been inspiring.

“People would start writing me emails on what the show meant to them or what the music meant to them. These soon turned to thank you emails on the podcast for how the music changed their lives or helped them during rough times,” he said.

Lars said the Deeper Shades of House brand has taught him to be authentic.

He excitedly shared that he will be in South Africa and Botswana this month.

“I’ve sadly never been to South Africa during the festive season because I’m a family man. But I’m here now and I’m starting in Tembisa and Vosloorus in the first week of December. Thereafter, I’ll be in KZN and Botswana the following week. We do have other gigs, but they have not yet been confirmed,” he said.
