Legendary producer DJ Choc is happy to have made a name for himself in the music industry.
The 49-year-old from Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, whose real name is Mbuyiselo Ngwenya, has helped many people along the way.
“I have given opportunities to many up-and-coming musicians since the ‘80s. And I have worked with most genres,” he said.
DJ Choc said he had been working on jungle juice genre, that had a bit of everything.
He first produced an album for Cleopas “DJ Cleo” Monyepao that was released in 2013, titled Es’khaleni Chocolate Groove. Then he went on to work with world-renowned artists such as Mbuso Khoza, Skipper Shabalala and Rofhiwa Manyaga.
“My most memorable album is Zion Agreement, that I wrote and produced. Its single, uBaba, became was an overnight success,” DJ Choc said.

He said his album, Private Appointment with Charlie Mindgames, gave them their first South African Music Awards nomination. And recently, he finished working with DJ Zan-D on the EP Four Shots, and Imilayezo with Mtekhala, Maqatha and Dogzin.
DJ Choc has also released The Extended Play.
“It is available on all digital platforms. My fans must be on the lookout for it,” he said.
The musician will be doing tours across the country to promote it and meet young people who love entertainment. “I want to show them the way and teach them how it is done,” he said.
