AN 11-year-old gqom singer Simthande "Mabhoyoza" Mncwango is the talk of the town.
The grade 6 pupil at Ebukhalini Primary School in Nongoma, KZN, has released his debut single, titled Sihamba Kanje Manje.
His manager, Sibusiso "Sbali Wosuku" Ntuli, told Daily Sun they made sure that as much as Mabhoyoza loves music, he also focuses on his school work.
“We even help him with extra classes when he is not attending school.
“I signed him on my record label called Ingqwele Records because he's a talented kid. While his peers are playing on the streets, he enjoys singing on top of music beats,” he said.
Sbali Wosuku, a radio DJ on Nongoma FM and Zululand FM, said they are preparing to release Mabhoyoza's EP in two weeks' time.

“At the moment, we have not finalised the title of the EP, but it will have six tracks because we don’t want to put too much pressure on him. He is still busy with his schoolwork, and there are songs that we sing together.
“His single is being played on many radio stations, and many people love it. We hope they will also love the upcoming EP,” he said.
He said before gqom star Mampintsha died, they were planning to approach him to feature Mabhoyoza on his songs.
"We wish that one day he works with Babes Wodumo and DJ Tira on a song,” he said.
Sbali Wosuku said that they want to push Mabhoyoza's music to the international level and are working with another record label called Blak Zulu Production.
“On the upcoming EP, there's a song that promotes peace and warns people about xenophobia because we want to spread peace while people are dancing,” he said.
