KAYA 959 has announced a new line-up for its weekend shows.

Some of the weekend shows have been extended, some cut short and some presenters have been moved to new time slots.

The changes will start from this Saturday, 3 July.

Saturdays will start with Sammy T’s breakfast show, followed by a new music chart show, The Ultimate Kaya 959 Top 30with DJ Keyez.

The new show will be from 12pm to 3pm, replacing Kaya Music with DJ Keyes, which currently airs from 11am to 2pm.

Andy Maqondwana will take over the 11am to 2pm show, and host Reloaded with Andy.

Kgomotso Meso’s Nites Elites is still on its usual time slot, 3pm to 6pm, and MaBlerh takes over from 9pm to midnight with The Weekend Update with Mablerh.

On Sundays, Sammy T will take over the Sunday Evergreens time slot from 6am to 9am to host the breakfast show.

Brenda Sisane’s show, The Art of Sunday, will now be from 12pm to 3pm, no longer from 10am to 2pm.

T-Bose’s Touch of Soul will move from 2pm to 6pm and be from 3pm to 6pm. Nicky B’s The World Show will now be from 6pm to 9pm and Colin Kgari takes over from 9pm to midnight.

The new Kaya 959 managing director, Sibongile Mtyali, said the changes would not affect Kaya’s weekend sound.

Sibongile said, instead, they will be adding new shows.

“We know the weekend sound of Kaya 959 is an intrinsic part of the landscape of the city. We’ll keep that great Saturday and Sunday music format while we add even more to look forward to, including a new weekend breakfast show, a chart show on Saturdays and much more,” she said.

The commercial programming manager, Maekanya Morotoba, said the new changes are to make sure the station caters for everyone.

“This weekend line-up announcement comes off the back of an ongoing focus to offer listeners the best radio possible. Kaya 959 is the station you have on during a Sunday family braai, when you want some quiet time, while working from home or driving to the mall,” he said.

“It’s the station for your everyday life. Now we’re offering an even better playlist presented by the names you love” he said.
