TV presenter and singer Katlego Maboe is finally going back on television from Monday, 8 August.
Katlego had a public break-up with his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Monique Muller, in 2020 that led to him taking a break from the morning show on SABC3.
Monique alleged that Katlego abused her.
Katlego also lost out on a South African Film and Television Awards nomination after he was nominated in the Best TV Presenter category in 2021.
He was removed from the list of nominees due to the allegations.
SABC3 and Cardova TV released a statement confirming that he will be back on air.
“At the end of 2020, Katlego Maboe took time off as a presenter from Expresso to focus on personal matters that stemmed from allegations of abuse that were made against him. After a protracted legal process, the courts absolved Katlego against these allegations in January 2022,” read the statement.
Upon his return, there will be a three-hour exclusive where he will chat to fellow presenter, Graeme Richards, about the past two years.
Speaking about his comeback, Katlego said he is grateful
“It truly is difficult to put into words what I feel at the moment – being back to the place I called home for a decade.

“I’m filled with so much gratitude for all those who have been supportive and encouraging throughout this journey.
“I’m looking forward to having the opportunity, once again, to help an incredible team deliver an inspiring show to our people,” he said.
“I’m a mixture of tingling nerves and child-like excitement at the thought of the first ‘Good morning!’. I hope that when all is said and done, I would have done everyone proud. Thank you all,” said Katlego.
Cardova TV’s managing director, Patience Stevens, said they are happy to have Katlego back.
“Domestic violence is a serious problem in our society and one which Cardova TV, as a company, stands strongly against.
“We are relieved that the legal process has run its course and that Katlego has cleared himself in court of such allegations.
“He is a rare talent and we are very happy to be welcoming him back to Expresso,” she said.
Pat Van Heerden, SABC3 head of channel, said: “SABC3 has always viewed the allegations levelled against Mr Maboe in a serious light and we are delighted that the courts have exonerated him and he can now return to the Expresso family as the host of the show.”
Catch Katlego Maboe back on Expresso on SABC3 from Monday to Friday at 6am.
