THE duo, Mapara A Jazz, believe in sticking to their roots and want to keep the barcadi sound alive.
They want to remind people who they are with their latest single, Wae Roba.
The duo from Atteridgeville, Tshwane, which is made up of Nephawe “MC Millan" Malaya and Leonard "Lenny Sbechu" Malatji, said Wae Roba has won fans' hearts and is even trending on social media.
The single was released in May 2023.
MC Millan told Daily Sun they know what people want as they have been doing music together since 2008. He said they were previously known as Maben10 and later changed their name to Mapara A Jazz.
"The song is well received. We wake up to new surprises as the song (Wae Roba) elevates every day. There are also different challenges done by artists like Uncle Waffles, Nkosazana Daughter, and Kamo Mphela participating on the song's challenge, among other Tiktok influencers," said Lenny Sbechu.

The John Vuli Gate hitmakers are one of the pioneers of the bacardi sound. Lenny Sbechu said this means a lot to them, especially as bacardi is their origin.
"It's a dream come true to find ourselves trending again with our own bacardi sound. In the beginning we had to fuse to amapiano. That's when we released the hit John Vuli Gate," he said.
MC Millan added: "We have a bacardi explosion project to be dropped soon which is led by the now viral Tiktok single Wae Roba. The bacardi explosion project will be a game changer as we will be giving people the true sound behind amapiano. This shows our consistency and innovation in the industry."
