MI CASA lead singer J’Something is going solo.
The 34-year-old, whose real name is Joao da Fonseca, recently launched his solo project Indoor and will be going on a three-city tour in the coming months.
He said during lockdown, he found himself in a difficult place with no income and to keep sane, he started creating new versions of well-known songs.
“These are not covers but tributes to the artists who have influenced me as an artist. During lockdown, we spent a lot of time indoors, which gave me time to compile this mixtape,” he said.
J’Something said he was hit hard when a newspaper published an article in the early months of lockdown, saying entertainment was not an essential service. He said this broke his spirit.
“The scariest part of it all was taking a leap of faith and deciding to share this vulnerable and different side of me with the world,” he said.
The singer said he made a 10-track mixtape with industry friends and it was produced by himself, alongside Sergio Botelho and the Jazzworx team.

He also set the record straight, saying he was not leaving Mi Casa.
“This is not the end of Mi Casa. Mi Casa is about to drop its best music to date. Trust me on this. I will never leave Mi Casa. That’s my family,” he said.
J’Something said he’d be taking his mixtape on tour in Joburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
He said he would be performing at intimate shows with only 300 to 400 guests.
He said tickets were selling for R350 at Computicket.
