IMVULA FM is facing allegations of unfair labour practice.

This after they terminated the contracts of eight presenters.

Last week, the station announced on their Facebook page that they will be releasing eight of their presenters.

The announcement posted on their Facebook page last week read: “The management of Imvula FM has decided to not renew contracts of eight radio personalities who joined Imvula from the auditions.

“The presenters have not produced as expected and also never met the requirements of Imvula 98.5 FM.

“That is why after they completed their three months contracts, their contract were not renewed,” wrote the station.

The presenters have now decided to take the radio station, which has been operating since 1 April, to the CCMA.

One of the presenters said: “My issue is that they failed to pay my salary for May. When I queried about it, the station manager, Siyanda Ndzimande, threatened to end my contract.

“He then told me not to come to work for June.

“Ultimately, he terminated my contract. “In the letter, he also informed me that I will not get my May salary because I was a volunteer.I am not happy about this and I have taken the matter to the CCMA.”

She said she was told the station founder, Dr Mngcwabo Dlamini, did not want her at his station.

“But I didn’t trust him. I tried to have a meeting with Dlamini, but couldn’t get hold of him. At the end of June, I received a letter of termination from Ndzimande.

Another presenter who also asked not to be named said: “I never received my full salary ever since I worked for Imvula FM. I tried querying this, but never received a response. Now my contract has been terminated. I am not going to fight it, I’ll just let it go and look for another job.”

Radio station founder, Dr Mngcwabo Dlamini, said: the presenters were told that there were on probation. “I paid all of them full salaries.

“I’m not aware of the CCMA case and I’m not aware of any complaintsbut my guess is that they are bitter.”
