IMBEWU: The Seed and Umkhokha: The Curse actress Portia Ncwane is hoping to scoop her first award and fly the Mzansi flag high.
Portia, who is the founder of Sbani Media Production and Portia Ncwane Foundation, has been nominated in the SHE Awards Africa under the Entertainment Founder of the Year category.
SHE is an annual business awards ceremony for women entrepreneurs in Africa which was launched in 2021.
Portia said all she needed were votes to become one of the finalists and then ultimately walk away with the title.
Portia, who played Sli Ngwenya on Imbewu: The Seed before it was canned by e.tv and played detective Latha on Umkhokha: The Curse, told Daily Sun she was looking forward to scooping her first award in the entertainment industry.
“I’m happy that I have been nominated for the African continent awards, and I have a big hope that I will scoop it.

“I ask people to visit SHE Awards Africa website and vote for me because my winning relies on their votes. I’m happy that my behind-the-scenes work has landed me a nomination in the African continent,” she said.
The 30-year-old actress from Newlands East, north of Durban said since Imbewu was canned, she has been focusing on producing her own documentary and films.
“Under Sbani Media Production and Portia Ncwane Foundation, I have produced three documentaries while I’m also training the youth about art.
“I’m also preparing to shoot a film soon. Then after that I will focus on a Zulu fairytale story to give it life on screen,” she said.
In 2019 she scored an opportunity to be part of Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders held at University of Delaware in Washington DC.
