THE Idols SA top eight brought the heat to the live show on Sunday night at the Heartfelt Arena in Tshwane singing some classics and making their parents proud.
Kicking off the show was the group performance.
The group sang a medley of TKZee songs, Dlala Mapantsula, Palafala, Fiasco, and Shibobo! which the crowd loved.
This week’s theme was their parent’s favourite songs.
Pabi Cooper was the guest performer of the night and she showed off her dance moves.
Bongi was the first to make it into the top eight and sang her dad’s high school musical crush Roberta Flack’s The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
Somizi said: “There’s no word in the dictionary that can describe how you did that performance. You are perfection. Stay like this, keep your eyes on the prize. You are going far.”
Ceejay performed his mother’s favourite Mafikizolo song called Mas’Thokoze.
Thembi said she was worried at the beginning of the song but there’s nothing she can fault.

“Keep on going baby, see you next week,” Thembi said.
Zee followed with a soothing rendition of UB40’s I Can’t Help Falling for You.
JR said he has been waiting for this moment.
“Thank you for listening to what I told you. You are only 18 and I know people who are 50 who are still trying to sing like that,” he said.
Kabelo sang Here and Now by Luther Vandross.
Somizi said he sang one of his favourite songs.
“You chose a very difficult song and then you should’ve been clever when your mother chose this song you should’ve told them choose another one.”
Ty Loner sang Can You Stand the Rain by New Edition.
Thembi said he will be fine even if he doesn’t win the competition and JR said he sounded like an American superstar.
Thapelo performing Let it Be by the Beatles, taking the audience to church and impressing the judges.
Thapelo was tearing up while the judges were giving their comments.
Mpilwenhle sang Mariah Carey’s Hero.

Somizi said she was perfect while Thembi said she looked like an angel.
“You sounded beautiful my baby. Well done, it’s such a blessing,” she said.
Noxolo was the last to perform in the top eight.
She performed her mother’s favourite song Miss You Like Crazy by Natalie Cole.
Thembi said she is such a joy to watch.
“You sounded so beautiful,” she said.
JR said she was flawless vocally.
“Be careful of over dramatising,” he added.
Somizi said Noxolo did very well.
Receiving the least amount of votes was Tesmin-Robyn and she got eliminated from the show.
