Ntando Mnyandu, who wants to keep her father's legacy alive.

THE daughter of legendary maskandi musician Phuzekhemisi, Ntando "Ichwane likaPhuzekhemisi" Mnyandu, wants to keep her father’s legacy alive.

Phuzekhemisi released an evergreen hit titled Imbizo in 1991. Now, Ntando has made a remix to pass on to a new generation.

The 20-year-old musician, who has been following in her dad’s musical footsteps since 2022, said she was asked by her fans to do a remix of one of her dad’s hits.

Ntando, who hails from Lower Illovo, south of Durban, told Daily Sun she was worried because her father was big and is still big, but she's honouring her fans' request.

"I sat down with a lot of people who know music, like maskandi star Mbuzeni Mkhize, and asked them for advice and they advised me to do Imbizo, no matter how big it is.

"Doing a remix of this song was a big task because it was released in the early 1990s but music lovers still like it, and I'm not sure if they'll accept the remix, but I have hope the new generation will accept it," she said.
