UKHOZI FM continues to honour its first female presenter, the late Winnie Mahlangu.
The station has decided to honour the late radio presenter by hosting a talent search for the third next Winnie Mahlangu Female Presenter.
Entries for the talent search opened on Tuesday, 19 July, and will close on Monday, 25 July, at midnight.
Interested women are invited to send their two-minutes long demos to the station.
Ukhozi FM started to honour Winnie in 2020 when she was still alive.
She died at the age of 88 in January this year. The station’s business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo, said Winnie will be celebrated in August during Women’s Month.
“We started celebrating her in 2020 but unfortunately, she passed away on 27 January this year.
“As Ukhozi FM, we are continuing to celebrate her and we will always celebrate her as our first black woman to be a presenter on the station. She opened doors for us as women in radio,” she said.

“We will honour her every year because she is the one who opened doors for us as women on radio,” she said.
“This year, we are still searching for the next Winnie.
“Zama Mseleku won in 2020 and Bingelela Mpaza won last year,” she said.
“This year’s winner will walk away with R20 000 and a year’s contract to work for Ukhozi FM, starting in April next year. The runner-up will get R10 000.
“After we have listened to all the demos, we will have our top 10. There will be weekly winners until we reach top four.
“The overall winner will be voted for by listeners. All will start in August and listeners will decide who the next Winnie Mahlangu is,” she said.
Sbongi said listeners stand a chance of winning R5 000 weekly for voting.
Demos should be sent to [email protected].
