SIBUSISO Kotelo started bodybuilding by mistake but now he’s a champion.
The International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) pro bodybuilder is known as The Kid Prodigy in his kasi of Lamontville, Durban.In 2018, when he was 27, he became the youngest and first-ever black bodybuilder to get his IFBB pro card in the Philippines.
Sibusiso told Daily Sun he started bodybuilding just to test himself.
“I was actually a rugby guy and I studied at UCT but when I came back to Durban, I was training at Virgin Active and I bumped into a guy who was an athletics pro.“He told me I should do bodybuilding and that I have the genetics for it.”
Four months into his journey, Sibusiso met Stone Cele, known as My Godfather in the fitness industry, who put him on stage in a competition.

“I really wasn’t that motivated. I wanted to see if I could challenge myself.”C
hoosing an athletic career didn’t surprise his parents as his mum was an athlete and his dad a pro boxer.
“There’s money in bodybuilding but only if you know how to handle your brand and monetise it,” he said.
Sibusiso said most of his income came from personal training, online coaching and his sponsors. On 29 October, his birthday, he’ll compete at a Pro Show competition taking place in Czech Republic where he will compete to qualify for the Mr Olympia competition that will take place in December 2022.
He said: “Bodybuilding is a selfish sport because it’s all about you. Those who want to be bodybuilders should be focused, healthy and enjoy the process.”
