HE WAS popularly known as DJ Vintos, the owner of the popular Soweto joint, Lifestyle Butchery.
But on Tuesday all of that was suddenly in the past as photos of his lifeless body lying next to his Golf 7R flooded social media.
He had been struck by 21 bullets fired by unknown gunmen!
Fans and social media onlookers were left shocked. Rumours spread like wildfire regarding the cause of the shooting.
DJ Vintos, real name Hector Buthelezi, a TikTok star and businessman, met his death at the age of 36 in Orlando East, Soweto.
Some sources said there was a powerful gangster taking revenge on people who had double-crossed him and Vintos was one of them. There have been several unexplainable shootings in Soweto since February.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Sello said on Tuesday a 36-year-old man was reportedly murdered at Rathebe Street in Orlando East.
“According to reports, the victim was shot by unknown suspects driving a BMW X3 vehicle. The circumstances that led to this shooting are unknown at this stage and police investigations continue.”
Asked if it could have been gang related, Sello said they didn’t have further information.
When the SunTeam visited the family in Jabulani, Banana Land section on Wednesday, the angry family chased the SunTeam away, saying they’re grieving their loved one.
On various social media platforms, fans expressed their shock. Palesa Mukasi said on Facebook: “RIP DJ Vintos. Gone too soon. It’s a sad day in Soweto.”
