INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed DJ, Black Coffee, has won a Grammy.
The musician made Mzansi proud when he walked away with the award for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his album, Subconsciously.
The award ceremony was held in Las Vegas, United States, on Sunday, 3 April (2am on Monday, 4 April Central Africa Time).
Black Coffee attended the ceremony with his son, Esona, who accompanied him on stage to accept the award. Black Coffee thanked God for the gift of music.
“I want to thank God for the gift of music and being able to share it with the world, cure some souls and help people go through whatever they are going through in life,” he said.
He also thanked his team and those who featured on the album, including South African musicians Msaki and Una Rams. “I want to thank everyone featured in the album from Msaki in South Africa to David Guetta, who believed in working with smaller artists like myself and trusting me and my ear,” he said.
“I want to thank my fans and the people who follow what I do all over the world.
“Thank you so much for believing in me. I want to thank my family and my kids.”
Taking to social media, the musician posted a photo of himself holding his Grammy and captioned it: “Grammy award-winning artist.”
Subconsciously, which dropped in February last year, features a variety of musicians such as Sabrina Claudio, DJ Ângelo, Jinadu, Cassie, Usher, Una Rams, Tellaman, Pharrel Williams, and Diplo.
Other Mzansi artists who have won Grammy Awards include Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lebo M and the late Miriam Makeba.
