KOPE Makgae, who plays Tswyza on Generations: The Legacy, is very proud of his students.
Students with his Wyza Media Academy were recently given the opportunity to show of their skills on the SABC 1 soapie’s set and he said they did very well.
The 36-year-old musician, actor and emcee told Daily Sun students of the academy in Limpopo travelled to Joburg to be extras.
“They saw and experienced first hand what it means to be an actor on the most famous soapie in South Africa. They got an opportunity to be on screen and learn about what goes on behind the camera,” he said.
Kope said he was determined to develop the film and television industry in rural areas of Limpopo. The entertainer, originally from Lebowakgomo, launched his academy, which also has studios, during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 with his own money.

“It feels very rewarding to see an initiative come to life and to be trusted by the students and their parents to shape them,” he said.
“I am happy I was able to instil hope and skills to develop the talent they already have.”
Kope said the students gave him hope and he wanted to make sure they were winning.
“It’s truly humbling to have the team I have, despite a lack of local support. I am happy my students are doing well,” he said.
Kope said the academy had 17 students and all of them were invited to be extras but five did not make the final cut as some scenes were dropped.
“We are definitely hoping to make this a standing partnership to develop youth in rural areas through television. I want to see them grow in this sector,” he said
