A MYSTERY illness has silenced Gagasi FM presenter Siphesihle "DJ Sphe Live" Shabalala again.

It has been two weeks since DJ Sphe Live has been behind the mic and he's said to be recovering at his home in Ladysmith, KZN Midlands.

He shocked many people when he was attacked by an illness during his first show on Gagasi FM in 2022, and he ended up not finishing it. This was after the annual changes at the station.

It's not clear what's wrong with him and if it's the same illness he had in 2022.

DJ Sphe Live is the host of the 8pm to 10pm show called Gagasi Music Session House on Tuesdays, and also hosts Urban Top 40 on Saturdays with Penny Ntuli.

Gagasi FM spokesman Khulekani Shandu confirmed that DJ Sphe Live was sick and is on sick leave.

“He is on sick leave and Sizwe Sibisi will stand in for him on Tuesday. We don’t know when he will be back on air. As the station, we are wishing him a speedy recovery,” he said.

Gagasi FM also posted on their Facebook page wishing DJ Sphe Live a speedy recovery.

Daily Sun was unable to reach DJ Sphe for a comment.

One of the Gagasi FM presenters told Daily Sun that the DJ was recovering at his home in Ladysmith.

"He has bad luck to be attacked by the illness which silences him on air because it also attacked him last year when he was doing his first show."

For the past two weeks DJ Sphe Live’s Saturday show was hosted by Nonjabulo "Njabs" Zwane and Heazy Madida, while the Gagasi FM Session House on Tuesday was hosted by Sifiso Sibisi.

The 32-year-year-old presenter and DJ joined Gagasi FM in 2019 to host two shows – Breakfast Gang Gang on Saturdays and The Sunday Chill Zone on Sundays.
