ACTRESS Pebetsi Matlaila has decided to pick up the microphone again.

The Skeem Saam actress has joined radio station Channel Africa.

Speaking to Daily Sun, the 35-year-old said: “I am happy to be at SABC Radio Park headquarters. I host Chart Toppers every Saturday from noon to 2pm, and Midnight Snack, that airs from 12am to 2am every Monday.”

Pebetsi shared that she was happy to return to what she loves.

“This is a full-circle moment for me. I started radio in 2005 when I was living in the USA. I got the opportunity to do presenting and production on a community station in Harlem, New York, catering to Africans,” she said.

Pebetsi, who has also worked on radio stations including UJ FM, Capricorn FM and Ubuntu radio, left the airwaves for seven years to pursue acting.

“I was not on a break. I sent my demo to various stations yearly but I was never selected,” she said, adding that it was important to make the most of wherever one was in life while waiting for their dreams to come true.

“Getting back into radio is an answered prayer but if I didn’t enjoy the season I was in for seven years while waiting for my chance, I would never have enjoyed acting,” she said.

“I would never have cemented my name in the industry so in a nutshell, enjoy wherever you are right now and trust the process.”

Pebetsi has assured Skeem Saam fans that she has not left the show, where she plays the role of Mokgadi.
